A guide to the Gold Coast’s best beaches

Coolangatta best beaches

Have a Coolangatta Christmas this year at Ocean Plaza Resort!

Our spacious one, two and three bedroom apartments have all the amenities you need for a sunny Christmas at the beach. Cook up a Christmas day dinner in your full sized kitchen and enjoy it overlooking the stunning panoramic views of the Gold Coast from your Ocean Plaza Resort apartment. Or throw a few prawns on the barbeque and relax by the pool!

With air conditioning, cable TV, a gymnasium, games room, tennis courts and golf driving range the whole family will love spending Christmas on the Gold Coast. And, Ocean Plaza Resort is located close to some of the Gold Coast’s best beaches. Here’s our guide for where to have fun in the sun this summer!

Greenmount Beach

With an unbeatable location across the road from us at Ocean Plaza Resort Greenmount Beach is one of the Gold Coast’s only north facing beaches. It offers a protected, calm spot for swimming, which is great for the little kids, while a stroll up Greenmount Hill gives gorgeous views out to Surfers Paradise.

Rainbow Bay

Just around the corner from Greenmount is southern Gold Coast favourite Rainbow Bay. Enjoy the sheltered swimming conditions or watch the surfers rip it up at nearby Snapper Rocks.

Snapper Rocks

It wouldn’t be a list of the Gold Coast’s best beaches without a mention of Snapper Rocks. Widely renowned as one of the world’s best surf breaks, Snapper Rocks hosts the Quiksilver Pro every year. During whale migration season Snapper is also a good spot to get a look at whales making their way up the coast, and offers one of the best sunrise views on the Gold Coast.

Kirra

Taking pride of place alongside Snapper as a surf break not to be missed Kirra has suffered a little from erosion over the years but is still incredibly popular, and beautiful. It also offers the Kirra Reef dive spot, a headland for gorgeous views and the longstanding Kirra Beach Hotel for an affordable lunch spot.

Burleigh Heads

North of Coolangatta and south of Surfers, Burleigh is an all-round great beach for swimming, surfing and bodysurfing. Burleigh Head national park is a wonderful place to explore where the rainforest meets the sea and when whales are migrating, a great vantage point for spotting them.

Currumbin

The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, iconic Elephant Rock and nearby Tallebudgera Creek are just some of the famous drawcards of Currumbin, and that’s even before we mention the waters that offer a mix of surfing and swimming fun and the nearby parks that are a great place for a weekend barbeque.
