Glow worm cave and natural bridge
This beautiful World Heritage listed site is as stunning by day as it is by night. During the day take the easy 1km walk to see the amazing natural bridge, formed by a centuries old waterfall. At night in the cave underneath the bridge you’ll experience the rushing noise of the water and the twinkle of rare glow worms, one of Australia’s largest colonies. Many guided tours include dinner and hotel transfers.
O’Reilly’s Tree Top Walk
This walk has been delighting locals and national and international visitors for more than 25 years. The first of its kind in Australia the O’Reilly’s Tree Top Walk is 180 metres in length and is made up of nine suspension bridges. Enjoy walking in amongst the rainforest canopy and getting up close and personal with the flora and wildlife. Much of the walk is 15 metres above ground, and some special viewing platforms have been strategically placed to allow you to enjoy the best views.
Hot air ballooning
If you love adventure try this thrilling option: a hot air balloon ride over the Gold Coast hinterland at sunrise. This tour offers 30 or 60 minute scenic rides and includes full hot breakfast and champagne at the O’Reilly’s Grand Homestead after landing. What a way to wake up on the Gold Coast!
Pack a picnic at Forest Park
Located in the Numinbah section of the Springbrook National Park this delightful grove is a cool and peaceful place to stop and enjoy a picnic lunch with family. Located on the Nerang River, Forest Park offers barbeque and toilet facilities and has plenty of space for kids to play and explore.
Purling Brook Falls
For experienced walkers only, the track to Purling Brook Falls features 450 steps down into the valley. The waterfall drops 109 metres and is particularly spectacular after rain. A new suspension bridge, opened in March 2015 offers upstream views of the falls.
Morning tea in the rainforest
After all that walking and exploring at Purling Brook Falls you’re probably hungry. Located close to the falls is Dancing Waters Café, offering organic, local and homegrown fare. Enjoy a traditional Australian morning tea of scones with cream and jam and great coffee.
