Your perfect day at Coolangatta | Ocean Plaza Resort

Your guide to the perfect day at Coolangatta

Greenmount Beach

Last month we talked about the best adventure activities on the Gold Coast. This month we’ve slowed down the pace, and planned your guide to a perfect day at Coolangatta.

Early morning

Wake up early and grab a coffee from The Black Sheep Espresso Baa (open from 5am) located downstairs at the Strand at Coolangatta, go for a walk on the beach and watch the sunrise over Snapper Rocks. They do breakfast too – you might not want to miss it once you see these magic words on the menu: haloumi stack.

If smoothies are more to your liking try The Beach House. With their huge range of nourishing smoothies and juices that can be customised to suit, you’re sure to find something to love. Try their Sunrise Brekkie Bowls too!

Not an early bird? Have a leisurely sleep-in in your comfy bed at Ocean Plaza Resort, before waking up to enjoy cooking yourself breakfast in your fully equipped kitchen, or heading out to explore the exciting range of restaurants waiting for you in Cooly.

Or head down to Rainbow Bay and join an Ocean Love Yoga class on the beach.

Mid morning

Time to get in the water! Make sure you’re lathered in sunscreen and then hit up any of the spectacular Coolangatta beaches. Learn to stand up paddle board (SUP) on the calm relaxing waters of Currumbin Creek, or try surfing with Walkin’ on Water Surf School – their big yellow truck is usually parked at Greenmount Beach daily.

Then treat yourself. Imagine paying only $30 for a one hour facial! You can, at The French Beauty Academy, where closely supervised students will perform your therapy. Or, go to our favourites Yan’s Asian Massage, just across the street from our lobby. Call them to book on (07) 5599 1100. Enjoy a 70 minute massage for only $60.00!

After all that water play you must be hungry. The Southern Gold Coast has some of the finest dining options around for all budgets.

Griffith St Larder has fast become a local favourite for its cheap but delicious eats. Fancy a chip sandwich for $5? Or try their various sandwiches and salads (we think slow cooked beef sounds amazing). Don’t miss grabbing one of their famous donuts that come complete with a syringe full of salted caramel for you to inject.

Kirra brings us the best of burgers with their Burger Lounge, and the views don’t get much better at the Rainbow Beach Surf Life Saving Club, located at Snapper Rocks. Or, pick up some takeaway fish and chips from Scales and enjoy it on the beach.

You could have a nap back in your climate-controlled room at Ocean Plaza Resort. Or you could make the most of the gorgeous autumn afternoons by taking a walk. Check out Point Danger Lookout and the Captain Cook memorial for breathtaking views of the coast and all the way out to Mt Warning.

Enjoy the sunset from Greenmount Point, where you’ll have a view of Surfers Paradise like no other. Families will love meandering on the ocean walkway, taking in the sights of Rainbow Bay, Greenmount, Coolangatta, Kirra Point, and stopping to play in the various parks along the foreshore.

If shopping is more your speed The Strand at Coolangatta has an electic range of stores, while the Griffith St precinct is home to several specialty boutiques.

Cafe D-bar

Dbar Cafe has spectacular views any time of day

Take in a movie or show at the Gold Coast Arts Centre, see live music at the Cooly Hotel or enjoy entertainment at Twin Towns. Or grab some wine and spend an evening star gazing from your balcony at Ocean Plaza Resort.
